White Salmon :4th of July

Friends....come in all shapes and sizes

This weekend we were invited to White Salmon to spend the holiday with friends. White Salmon, Washington sits on a bluff across the Columbia River from Hood River, Oregon. After dark we head to the edge of the bluff to watch the fireworks celebration.

They were spectacular! What a unique view we had. From our view point we sat ABOVE the fireworks display showcased across the river. The very highest displays were eye-level to us.

The next day we all split into three separate groups. We had some taking a mountain bike trail, some heading off down the river white-water kayaking, and some of use headed across the river to explore the Twin Tunnels urban trail that was created along the route of the old Columbia River Highway.

Lily & I decided to do the hike. Joining her on her adventure are her friends, Elby the Labrador and Cooper the Dachshund. Needless to say, they turned quite a few heads.

Portland Rose Festival

Today we decided to head down to Portland's Waterfront to visit the fleet in for the Rose Festival. To our surprise and delight, we were also able to see the floral floats from the parade the day before.

The lines were LONGGGGG so neither of us got to tour any of the big naval vessels. But just looking at them was fun. As always, Lily got lots of points and stares and will be turning up in a scrapbook or two or three or..... [read more]

Trip to the Coast

It's a beautiful sunny day, so Lily and I take her Grandma to the coast. First stop, Camp 18, a restaurant/museum at mile marker 18.

Then it's to Cannon Beach for a lunch and a quick romp on the beach before heading down the coast towards Tillamook.

Springtime Snow Shoe

Yes, that date is correct. Here is it APRIL 20th and we headed up the mountain for one last snow shoe.

This was a record year in the area for mountain snow as our pictures today testify. The snow even felt deep under our feet. It was a bit odd to be walking along and seeing parts of trees that were typically way above our head.

Looking DOWN at the top of a stop sign buried deep below where we were standing was almost surreal.

What a wonderful day!

Eagle Creek Trail, Columbia River Gorge

This is a favorite trail of ours. Every season paints a new picture. The water is high, so as we walk along the sounds of the river running and water rushing fill the air along with birds singing and the freshness of a Spring yet to come.

Many of the trees have yet to leaf out, so we have views today that we won't see this summer. The moss is in full bloom, giving the trees the look of antlers in velvet.

When the sun begins to peak out filtering through the towering trees, casting mystical shadows along the trail, it is easy to imagine you're transported into another time, another land. If a Hobbit appeared on the trail, you wouldn't be surprised.

Spectacular is too tame of a word for today. It truly took your breath away.

An Afternoon at Cannon Beach

A stunning day with clear blue skies and unseasonably warm temperatures. What a better place to hang than Cannon Beach. It's always a good choice.

Lily had a great time exploring and walking along all the new trees that the winter's storms had deposited on the beach.

For the last three weeks we have been foster a gorgeous Ridgewood Shilohs pup for Woodside Ranch Shilohs in Bend, Oregon. She was lots of fun to have around.

Since our Christmas visit to the mountain was so much fun, we decided to do a repeat on New Year's Day. There was about 4-5 more feet of snow that had fallen during the past week making the scenery even more spectacular than before. A different route was chosen, we went left instead of right at the fork in the road

Hike/Bike :: Forest Park

On Fridays you can sometimes find us meeting up with our friends for a hike/bike trek up Thurman Rd in Forest Park. Tyree heads off on his mountain bike for about a 14miler and Lily & I will trek about 5miles.

When the pack of bikers heads off and leaves us in the dust, Lily will howl, bark and screech, scolding them for leaving her behind. She will carry on like this for about 1/8mi the silly girl.

It is a beautiful trail and afterwards we all gather together at the local pub for drinks and dinner.

Lily's nephew, Jasper, lost his courageous battle with cancer today.

Strikingly handsome, Jasper was truly devote to his family. Jasper leaves behind beautiful puppies that will carry on his legacy. They all live in wonderful homes and have already touched the lives of their families the same way Jasper did his. They have his demeanor, his looks, his special way with people and all of them share a little piece of his soul.

He will always live on in our memories.

Forest Park :: a Portland Gem

In the heart of Portland lies Forest Park. With over 5,100 wooded acres & over 70 miles of trails, it is largest, forested natural area within any city limits in the United States. We are truly blessed to have this wonderful park so close and enjoy it often.

Today was the perfect day to head out and take a quick hike and enjoy the wonders of this truly special place.

Lily lost her Uncle Riot last week. 3NSbiWSCSq CH-S Willamette Valley Santiam (Riot), CGC was a magnificent boy that truly personified the Shiloh Shepherd. They shared a special relationship. Each seeking out the other during our visits with the Siskiyou Pack. Many a time sharing the crate while we riding along with us.

Lily & Riot, along with Aussie buddies, Dakota & Muffin, were truly the solid stars of our pack pictures. There really wasn't any opportunity that they passed up to pose.

Riot, we were truly blessed to have you as a part of our lives.

the Twigs Come to Visit

Yesterday Lily was visited by a pack o'puppies from Bend, Oregon. The five adorable fluff-balls were visiting overnight before flying off to their new homes back east.

Always the trooper, Lily escorted the babies into the back yard (they followed her like a bunch of baby ducks) upon their arrival, then she promptly decided her hostess duties were over and she made her escape.

Easter Sunday has dawned bright and beautiful. Flowers are in bloom and the Northwest is definitely looking like Spring! Lily is spending a lazy day at home relaxing. She started the morning carrying around her cute little fuzzy white bunny around by his cute fuzzy bunny butt. Carrot snacks keep with the festive theme and she sure would like a bite of that roast in the oven .

A Visit With the Pack :: 032407

This weekend we headed over the mountain and Lily got to visit with her Siskiyou Pack. As always it was fun and relaxing. Her main goal was to eat as much horse sh*t as possible before we headed on home.

A working trip for me, I got to shoot some puppy pictures for a local breeder, Joyce Hamblin. They were adorable. She still has 2 of the little plushies available.

A Shiloh Shepherd Saves The Day

Yesterday, 12-year old Boy Scout, Michael Auberry was saved by a 2-year old Shiloh Shepherd named Gandalf.

Daysprings Gandalf, CGC, SAR is owned by Misha Marshall of South Carolina and bred by Lilli Anglin, Dayspring Shiloh Shepherds. Gandalf's success is an awesome testimony to Misha's training and what a proud moment for Lilli to see the success of one of her furr-grandbabies. We salute you both!

Some of Gandalf's siblings include Skye of Noble Acres, Maizi of BelleGrace Shilohs, and Jersey of KeyStone Shilohs.

bChPtd Windsong's Gypsy Dancer of Zion ROM aka Gypsy turned 14 (fourteen) years old today. As far was we know this makes Gypsy the oldest living Shiloh Shepherd EVER.

Her mom, Wendy says "She's as tenacious as glue and sweet as pie. She still gets around well, still grabs a toy to play (latex especially), snorts at kisses, and loves pets and snuggles. She's losing her hearing a little bit... you have to talk loud, but she see's well. She can jump up on the couch still too."

Gypsy is owned by Wendy Fullerton, Raid The Wind Kennels LLC

Irish Blessing :: May your home always be too small to hold all your friends.

St. Patrick's Day honors St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day on March 17. Americans march in parades, dance the Irish jig and gather to sing Irish songs. People wear green in memory of Ireland, the Emerald Isle and wear shamrocks, clover with three leaves. March 17 was not the day St. Patrick was born, but rather the day he died.

Spring Has Sprung

The weather has cleared and the flowers are in bloom. Lily is spending more and more time outdoors enjoying the fresh grass and pretty flowers.

Pretty soon we'll be hitting the trails once again.

Mt Hood Snow Adventure :: 030207

Snow is best enjoyed at 32 degrees. The Cascades (Mt Hood) has been getting a stellar snowfall the last few days. With temps forecasted to climb over the weekend, we decided to head up today for a little stroll and lunch to enjoy the picturesque mountain snows.
